Castle Island is a 4.4 acre Government owned nature reserve managed by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. It is a site of biological and cultural significance due to the presence of a variety of rare indigenous plants and animals as well as historical fortifications which date back to the early 17th century.

Stocks Harbour plan

The Stocks Harbour nature reserve is a 2.6 acre engineered wetland containing both a mangrove swamp and saltmarsh. It is inhabited by numerous protected species and is also the only known place on Bermuda where sea lavender grows.

Cooper’s Island plan

Cooper’s Island is managed by both DENR and the Parks department. The nature reserve portion is 58.5 acres in area and the adjacent amenity park is an additional 38.6 acres.
