Species Management and Recovery Plans
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources is mandated to develop and oversee the implementation of species recovery and management plans for the over 80 terrestrial and marine species currently listed on the Protected Species Amendment Order 2016 and protected by the Protected Species Act 2003. This work is done in collaboration with local and international institutions, and focuses on research and monitoring, active management of habitats, reducing threats, and captive breeding and propagation of our most threatened species.
Please note that a license is required to undertake any research focused on protected species. Click here for more details on how to obtain a license.
