Only Rain Down the Drain

Road drains are for rain water only. It is against the law to put anything else into them.

Road drains in the City of Hamilton flow into Hamilton Harbour and the Pembroke Canal. The Water Resources Act 1975 protects these and all other bodies of water that receive what goes into road drains.

Do not put paint, detergents, carpet cleaning effluent, gasoline, oils, grease, sewage or other liquid or semi-liquid debris or trash down the storm drains.

Polluters are subject to prosecution under Section 34 of the Water Resources Act 1975. A summary conviction carries a $10,000 fine, plus $1,000 per day for as long as the offense continues.

Protect Bermuda's waters.
