Beach Lobelia

(Scaevola plumieri)

Beach Lobelia is a native sand dune plant. It gets its name from the 5 petaled white flowers which are an unusual shape - all of the petals are on one side of the flower. Beach Lobelia is also sometimes called inkberry because it produces round, shiny, purplish-black fruit.

Beach Lobelia can be confused with the invasive Beach Naupaka (Scaevola taccada).
